Nov. 16, 2021

Dear College Community,

As COVID-19 cases nationally and in the State of Missouri continue to drop, Columbia College will begin to ease masking requirements for vaccinated individuals. In line with CDC recommendations , we still encourage individuals to wear a mask indoors when social distancing is not possible; however, we will continue to monitor COVID-19 transmission rates on-campus to ensure our actions are prudent.

Effective Thursday, November 18, 2021, masks are optional but strongly encouraged for all vaccinated students, faculty, staff and visitors while indoors in public areas, including:

  • Hallways
  • Common Areas
  • Residence Halls and Dining Hall
  • Athletic and Event Facilities

However, masks will still be required regardless of vaccination status in the following areas where prolonged exposure is a concern:

  • Masks are still required in classrooms
  • Masks are still required in conference and study rooms where 6-foot social distancing is not possible.
  • Masks are required in offices if one or more of the parties in the space requests masks be worn.

Columbia College Global locations will continue to follow their respective local and/or host (military installation or community college) health and safety guidelines. This conservative approach will only be as effective as your collective cooperation. Please be mindful that the mask mandate is applicable to all faculty, staff, students and visitors to the campus and should be observed; however, the College acknowledges that proper enforcement of these rules depends on the good will and voluntary compliance of the Columbia College community.

College officials will re-evaluate the mask policy prior to the start of the Spring Semester so that faculty, staff and students know what to expect when they return to campus after the holidays.

Sincerely,

Dr. David Russell
