Guidance for Use of Campus and Location Facilities
Some exterior doors with ADA accessible door openers are being upgraded to provide motion-activated operation. College community members are encouraged to use this touchless feature where available to minimize contact with door handles and reduce the risk of exposure to the virus. Some corridors and stairways may be marked with floor decals or signage to indicate the direction of traffic flow to help improve social distancing. All college community members are expected to follow these directives.
Occupant density is determined by useable floor/workspace with adequate physical separation. Plant & Facilities or the local CCG Director will identify maximum occupancy for each space including breakrooms and conference rooms. Safe social distancing and individual responsibility are required for shared spaces such as kitchens and break/conference rooms. Refrigerators, microwaves, coffee machines, etc. may be used, but they are an individual responsibility, and hand cleaning before and after use is required.
While daily cleaning of high contact touch points will be completed by custodial staff (with additional cleaning of high touch points such as stairwell and room door handles and elevator buttons), individuals are responsible for their own work environments including equipment that they use. Cleaning cloths and approved disinfectants will be made available.
Classroom furniture will be reorganized or removed to meet social distancing requirements. Hand sanitizer dispensers and cleaning materials are available in each classroom for student use.
Virtual meetings should be the norm at this time using the available collaboration tools (e.g., Zoom, Microsoft Teams, VOIP, telephone). In-person meetings are discouraged unless truly necessary; all meetings must, at the very least, observe the restrictions of local and state orders. Plant & Facilities or the local CCG Director can provide guidance on maximum capacity per room.
Use of restrooms should be limited based on size to ensure at least six feet distance between individuals. Individuals should wash their hands thoroughly afterward to reduce the potential transmission of the virus.
A maximum of two passengers are permitted in an elevator at one time. While using the elevator, masks must be worn and individuals should press elevator buttons with another object, their knuckle, their elbow, etc., if possible. Individuals should wash hands or use hand sanitizer upon departing the elevator.
Dulany Dining Hall and Cougar Café
While mealtime is an important way to connect with friends, share traditions, and take a much-needed break from other aspects of daily life, how we operate our on-campus dining facilities will be informed by current guidance from the local and state health departments, which define standards for social distancing and cleaning protocols to prevent the spread of the virus.
Seating in the Dulany dining room and Cougar Café will be reduced significantly to support social distancing requirements. Table capacity should not exceed the number listed on the table. Self-service will not be available at this time. Diners will indicate their food choices to an Aladdin staff member who will plate the food. Special diet requirements and featured menu items will be offered when practical. Pre-packaged "grab and go" options may be available. Aladdin staff will also be serving all beverages.
In order to provide seating for students, faculty and staff can only access takeout meals from Dulany, and only before 11:30 a.m. or after 12:30 p.m. Faculty and staff are not permitted to eat in the Dulany dining room; Cougar Café will be available for all college community members with limited seating. College community members are encouraged to eat outside if possible, maintaining social distance requirements. Individuals should not sit facing one another. They should only remove their mask in order to eat, then put it back on.
Because the dining operations are high-traffic areas, Aladdin Food Service has prepared extensive cleaning protocols for food preparation and service areas. Hard surfaces and high contact surfaces will have regular disinfection; high traffic locations will close for a period of time between meal periods for deep cleaning; and social distancing will be required whenever possible.
The library will be open on a limited basis for individual learning and research and to support digitization requests. Occupancy of study rooms will be limited to one person at a time. Access to some seating areas will be restricted to comply with social distancing requirements.
Activity in athletic facilities across campus continues to be evaluated and the operational status may change consistent with local conditions or as directed by local and state health authorities. College community members are encouraged to monitor CougarTrack for announcements and updates. Call the Athletics office at 573-875-7433 or email CougarAthletics@CCIS.edu for more information.
Fans will not be permitted to attend on-campus athletic competitions, indoors or outdoors, until further notice. Updated information regarding attendance at athletic events will be available on the CC Cougars website if these restrictions change.
The Arena and Courts will remain closed until further notice. Intercollegiate teams will use the facility for organized team practice and training activity.
Gene and Fran Koepke Fitness Center
Based on current virus conditions, use of the fitness center is limited to students, student athletes and intercollegiate teams. Student use is by appointment only during certain hours. The fitness center will close periodically during the day to allow staff to clean and disinfect the equipment and other high touch surfaces.
R. Marvin Owens Field
When not in use by athletic teams, the track and playing field are open during normal hours for use by all college community members as long as participants continue to practice social distancing.
The Game Hut will remain closed until further notice. ESports teams will use the facility for organized team practice and training activity.
