Amy Johns

Amy Johns, Instructor of Music at Columbia College and Coordinator of the Music Program, received both her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music and Master Degree in Vocal Performance from University of Missouri – Columbia, studying with renowned teachers Ann Harrell and Costanza Cuccaro. Johns teaches applied voice, the music history course sequence, and general education courses such as Music and the Human Experience and Exploring the Music of World Cultures. She has performed roles such as Laurie in Oklahoma!, Anna in the The Consul, Madame Thenardier in Les Mis, and numerous ensemble roles in productions such as The Corps of Discovery, Grease, The Sound of Music, Godspell, Suor Angelica, and Die Fledermaus. Her most recent role was that of Mrs. Harcourt in Anything Goes for Maples Repertory Theater’s summer 2017 season. Ms. Johns has been engaged as a soloist on many occasions and was the soprano soloist for the Jane Froman singers during their tour of Austria, performing the Benedictus from Haydn’s Little Organ Mass. Most recently she performed as a Jane Froman Singers guest soloist for the Midwest premier of Considering Matthew Shepard.
